Jeffrey Hunter

"The Searchers" made him a star. He played the title role of Jesus in "King of Kings" and Captain Pike in the pilot for Star Trek. He turned sown the opportunity to stay with the series and Pike was replaced by Captain Kirk, played by William Shatner. After suffering an injury on a film set in Spain, he returned home to Van Nuys and fell down some stairs. He died later of a brain hemorrhage. He was 42.
