Hello, Sports Fans!
It's time for another massive Beneath Los Angeles Update, and this one's got a lot of greats. This month, we add the Duke, himself, John Wayne, along with Groucho Marx, Mel Torme (photographed one day after his burial in Westwood), Toastmaster General Georgie Jessel, Hollywood Square George Gobel, and eternally old and limping Walter Brennan. Recognize the name Wilbur Hatch? (Ever see 'I Love Lucy?') All of these, and Mary Frann, are now under Famous.
Under Infamous, we now have Neil Bogart, founder of Casablanca Records, as well as the TJ Martel Foundation; Fanny Brice in her new home in Westwood (after half a century at Home of Peace); Lawyer to the Stars Jerry Giesler; Super Agent Johnny Hyde; Superman's Girlfriend, Toni Mannix; Super Lesbo Alla Nazimova; Super Drummer Buddy Rich; Songwriter Sammy Cahn; Suicide Brian Keith; Murder Victim William Desmond Taylor; and visiting from Ketchum, Idaho, Ernest and Margeaux Hemingway.
Under Just Plain Dead, you'll meet the much younger sister of Mary Tyler Moore, the mother of the Beach Boys, and a couple known as Mom and Pop Hollywood.
Much credit for the evolving look of BLA (and a few of the captions) must go to my brother and web-master, Ken Goldstein. To see other pages he maintains, click on his name at the bottom of the main page. One of his sites, the Telecaster Appreciation Page, can also be found on our links page. Follow the Tele-Stars link and scroll down to Steve Moon. That was me in a previous life as an aspiring rock star, although this picture is only two years old. It was taken at a 25th Anniversary Reunion of my high school band, Ichabod Crane, in a rehearsal studio in Boston. I love being on this page with far more famous players like Springsteen, Tom Petty, Dave Davies, John Hiatt, Bob Dylan and Keith Richards. Ken says that nobody has ever asked him 'Who the hell is Steve Moon?' Well, now you know. Thanks, Ken.
Enjoy the new pictures. Happy Hunting!
