Hello, again, Dear BLA Subscribers-
This week, just two months short of our three year anniversary, Beneath Los Angeles logged it's 100,000th visitor! We are so very proud. To mark the occassion, we have raided the vaults and added a few odds and ends for your viewing pleasure.
Some of my oldest photographs that somehow were never added to the site until now include actress Anna May Wong and jazz great Art Tatum, both from the historic Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery, and the young Christopher Quinn, son of Anthony and grandson of Cecil B. DeMille, who drowned at age 2-1/2 in grandpa Cecil's neighbor's pond. That neighbor was W. C. Fields, who had the pond filled in immediately.
We have added another submitted photograph from a friend in Northern California, who found a grave of a guy named Brain. Wonder if he was any relation to Dumfart. Anyway, they're both there, along with new photos of Stooges Moe and Shemp Howard, and gangster Mickey Cohen.
And finally, for you LA area residents, you can now have beer, snacks, and other food items delivered to your door while you surf BLA thanks to our new affilliation with PDQuick (formerly Pink Dot). Look for the colorful (and maybe a little annoying) banners on the pages. And see if you can find the hidden photo 'Easter Egg' planted by web master Dave. It's somewhere under a letter in a title of a page...oh, what the hell, just click on the D in Just Plain Dead.
Hope you're having a great 2001. We'll be continuing to enjoy serving your grave picture viewing needs. And look for some exciting news about the BOOK coming soon!
Thanks as always for your support, encouragement, notes and submissions.
All the Best,
