Big Friggin' Update!!

Hello, again, dear BLA Subscribers:

Well, we went nuts again and added a LOT of new photos for your enjoyment. Twenty-eight, to be exact! We're givers. Here's one you won't find on the What's New page: Freddie De Cordova, the legendary producer of Johnny Carson's Tonight Show. That's because he really isn't new to the site. We already had his final parking space. Now we've added his final resting place, at Holy Cross Cemetery. In fact, most of this update is from a recent visit to Holy Cross in Culver City, where a friend, Jesuit Jim Duggan, the most knowledgable of Holy Cross afficianados, graciously led me to many graves I had not found before. Thank you, Jim! The rest are from Westwood. And some of them include:

Daws Butler, the voice of my childhood heroes, Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound; Allison Hayes, the star of Attack of the 50 Foot Woman; Jack Benny's sidekick, Dennis Day; Catch-22 author Joseph Heller; the sultry Miss Peggy Lee; Loretta Young; and Dee Dee Ramone (okay, he's at Hollywood Forever, but what a cool grave to add to BLA!)

We've got directors like Billy Wilder (Some Like It Hot, Sunset Blvd), Franklin J. Schaffner (Patton, Planet of the Apes) and Lewis Milestone (the original Ocean's Eleven); B-Movie actresses like the aforementioned Miss Hayes, along with Jean Peters (a former Mrs. Howard Hughes), and Jean Acker (a former Mrs. Rudolph Valentino); and from Hillside, the Infamous Julia Phillips (You'll Never Eat Lunch In This Town Again).

Alfred Bloomingdale, whose mistress, Vicki Morgan, was bludgeoned to death by her other boyfriend, is here. Maybe the simplicity of his grave is a demonstration of the feelings his widow, Betsy. We've even added graves of folks who are still living, including dancer and MGM golden era actress Ann Miller, and Rocky producer Irwin Winkler. That's right, kids, we are working so hard here at BLA, we're getting them before they even die!

So, what are you waiting for? Check in and have a good time. Oh, and with the holidays right around the corner, please don't forget to check into Ye Olde Gifte Shoppe for some great deals on BLA T's, Sweats, Coffee Mugs, Mouse Pads, and Caps. Some have been reduced in price.

And as always, thank you for your continued support and letters. Regarding correspondence, by the way, replies to these newsletters do not get back to me, they float away into cyberspace, so if you have tried to reply in the past and have not gotten a response from me, that is the reason. I do welcome your comments, so feel free to write me from the site, or at [email protected].

Take care, and have a safe holiday season.

Steve
